Support Shrewsbury override – Duke

To the Editor,

While writing out the check for my family’s $500 school bus fee, I was inspired to write and ask my fellow Shrewsbury citizens for their support on the operational override vote.   Our once top tier school system is in a downward spiral, being downgraded from a level 1 school (top 24%) to a level 2 school (top 57%) in the state.   Our talented teachers have their hands tied with overcrowded classrooms and outdated teaching materials (bottom 2% in the state on textbook/curriculum spending per student).

The MCAS score slide is underway and the home value slide won’t be far behind.  Our town is past the tipping point.  We can no longer maintain our high caliber town services and education that we have come to expect.

It is our town, it is our community, and it is our responsibility to do what is right.  Join me in voting YES on June, 3rd.

Sincerely,

Michelle Duke
