Restrictions placed on using Lake Chauncy during chemical treatment

Westborough – On behalf of the town of Westborough, Aquatic Control Technology, Inc. (ACT) will begin its annual chemical treatment to control milfoil and algae outbreaks at Lake Chauncy Beach Monday June 2. These types of treatments are very common and used at many public beach areas. They are regulated by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Environmental Protection.

Town officials are advising that residents temporarily cease use of lake water as follows:

•           No fishing, swimming or boating until Tuesday, June 3

•           No drinking or domestic usage until Sunday, June 8

•           No usage for irrigation or watering livestock until Sunday, June 8

If you have any questions on the above matter, call Recreation Director Alan Grady at 508-366-3066. Any questions regarding the chemicals call Steve Baccari of the Westborough Board of Health at 508-366-3045.
