Westborough – The Westborough Public Library, 55 W. Main St., will hold three upcoming events in August.

  • Author Hank Phillippi Ryan will be the guest Monday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. as part of the Literary Elements adult summer reading program. The grand prize winner for the summer reading program will also be announced at the event. Ryan, the on-air investigative reporter for Boston's NBC affiliate, will talk about how an Emmy-winning reporter becomes a best-selling author of fast-paced murder mysteries, how a just-the-facts journalist adds mystery fiction to her resume, and about mixing the worlds of fact and fiction. She will discuss her career that goes from radio reporter to Rolling Stone Magazine to the U.S. Senate to undercover investigations at Boston's Channel 7 and about making a career change at mid-life. Copies of her latest book will be available for purchase and signing. This program is being sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m. the library will offer a hands-on book-folding class.?Registration is required and limited to 20 people with preference given to Westborough residents. This program is part of the “Discover Your Next Chapter: Lifelong Learning” project. This workshop, led by Diane Lightburn, will teach participants the art of book folding.?All supplies will be provided. There will be pictures of Diane's book-folding work on the library website, www.westboroughlib.org. Call the library at 508-366-3050 to register.
  • The library will show the movie, “Non Stop,” Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. as the monthly movie for adults. The movie stars Liam Neeson as an air marshal confronted with a hostile force who plans to kill every passenger on a flight if the government doesn's pay a hefty ransom. The movie is free and open to adults over the age of 18.?Attendees are welcome to bring snacks and beverages.?For more information, call the library at 508-366-3050.
