Marlborough: Family Fun Festivals continue at Union Common

664Marlborough – Looking for great summer fun for the whole family? Four Family Fun Festivals on Saturdays, Aug. 2, 9, 16, & 23, hosted by the River's Edge Arts Alliance, are coming to Union Common in Marlborough and all are free to the public. These family friendly-themed festivals will take place from 1-4:30 p.m., with an exciting line up of performances and activities.

 

Aug. 9 will be a Kids Fun Festival with Mystic Paper Beasts performing at 1p.m., The Stupendous Mr. Magichead at 2:15 p.m., and a thrilling Vegetable Circus performance at 3:30 p.m.

 

Aug. 16 will be a Storytelling Festival that begins with African drumming and storytelling with Sidy Maiga at 1 p.m., Rosalita's Puppets at 2:15 p.m., and storytelling with Len Cabral at 3:30 p.m.

 

The final festival, to be held Aug. 23, is a Summer Music and Dance Festival beginning with the Pan Neubean Steel Band at 1 p.m., Origination getting everyone up and dancing at 2:15 p.m., and ending with a 3:30 p.m. performance of “Trash to Tunes,” a demonstration of homemade instruments.

 

The Family Fun Festivals will take place at Union Common at 91 Main St. in Marlborough. In the case of rain, the Festivals will move to the Marlborough Senior Center at 250 Main St. Family Fun Festivals are sponsored by the City of Marlborough and the Ezra M. Cutting Trust.
