Shrewsbury/Westborough – State Representative Matt Beaton is delighted to host his third annual charity golf tournament Monday, Aug. 18, at the Haven Country Club (formerly Mount Pleasant Country Club) in Boylston. The Beaton Charity Classic (BCC) will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast, followed by a 10:30 a.m. bramble-style start, barbecue lunch served on the course, and a 19th-hole reception.

Beaton and the Host Committee said they are excited to welcome new sponsors and to recognize current sponsors who are stepping up to higher levels of support.

“I am excited and humbled by the generosity of our supporters and participants who have enabled us to give over $72,000 to three very worthy charities over the course of the last two years,” Beaton said. “The need has been great in our communities and our ability to help agencies respond quickly to events such as the unexpected influx of homeless families last fall is only made possible by the support we are given from our sponsors and the dedication of our golf Host Committee. This year's tournament is shaping up to be another great day of golf that will allow us to assist a number of people in our community.”

Funds raised will be donated to the following local charities: St. Anne's Human Services, which assists the poor and needy with food and clothing; Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, a private, non-profit community counseling and social services agency; and the Westborough Food Pantry.

The Host Committee wishes to encourage those individuals who are unable to participate in the golfing but wish to support the event to join them at the 19th-hole reception which begins as the golfing winds down, approximately 3:30 p.m., and will feature silent and live auctions as well as delicious food and a cash bar. Tickets are $60 per person. Shrewsbury Selectman Jim Kane will reprise his role as emcee at the reception.

Presenting Sponsor for the tournament is once again the Gene J. DeFeudis Family Foundation. Leader Board sponsors, a new level of sponsorship this year, includes Dunkin Donuts, Hair-Lines for Paul Mitchell Systems, Metso and Wheelabrator Shrewsbury. Hole-in-One sponsors are Beaton Kane Construction and Carlstrom Pressed Metal. Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union is an Eagle Sponsor; Birdie Sponsors include Webster Five Cents Savings Bank, Bowditch and Dewy LLP, Kamco Supply Corporation, TD Bank, Grossman Development Corporation, Mirick O”Connell and Nardella Realty Company, LLC. The Polito Development Corporation is generously serving, once again, as this year's BBQ Lunch Sponsor. The 19th Hole Reception Sponsor once again is Central One Federal Credit Union and the Thank-You Gift Sponsor is personally supported by Robert “Chief Joseph” Terkanian of Hair-Lines, as well as Wheelabrator Shrewsbury. Peak Organic Brewery Company will serve for the third year as Beverage Sponsor and the Gene J. DeFeudis Family Foundation as the Cart Sponsor.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available and auction items can still be donated. For more information regarding sponsorship opportunities, to purchase tickets for the reception, or to donate auction items, contact Beaton or Tournament Director Hannah Kane at 508-925-4880 or repmattbeaton.com.
