Shrewsbury: Arts on the Green ‘Silent Movie Night’ kick-off event

Silent Movie Night 091314Shrewsbury – Come and enjoy two silent movies presented by Arts on the Green Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m., at First Congregational Church, 19 Church Rd. The family-friendly event for all ages will feature the 1916 Charlie Chaplin film “The Rink” in Gifford Hall, with the J.W. Walker box organ and Baldwin piano, and the 1928 “Steamboat Bill, Jr.,” starring Buster Keaton, in the sanctuary with the three-manual Casavant organ.

 

The films will be accompanied by internationally celebrated silent move organist Peter Krasinski. Popcorn will be for sale, and a complimentary dessert reception will be provided between the two films. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children and students, with a $20 special family rate.
