Hudson – Julian A. Prachnick, 75, of Hudson, formerly of Berlin, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 at Marlboro Hills Healthcare Center surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret J. (Hatt) Prachnick of Hudson.

Julian was born in Clinton, son of the late Stanley and Natalie (Moffa) Prachnick, and was raised in Hudson where he attended local schools. He resided in Berlin for 44 years and was very active in the community.

He served on the Berlin Building Code Board of Appeals Committee from 1970 to 2008, was very active as a volunteer in the Berlin Cub Scout Program, and also spent time as a coach in the Berlin Youth Baseball Program.

Julian worked as a carpenter for many years as a member of the Local 475 Carpenters Union out of Ashland until his retirement. He and his wife Margaret have spent the last six years in Hudson.

Julian was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished the times he shared with his two loving grandchildren. He will be truly missed.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, William J. Prachnick and his wife Sharon of Berlin, and his two grandchildren, Amanda L. Prachnick of Sudbury and Jonathan W. Prachnick of Berlin. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Prachnick of Brazil, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Prachnick.

Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday, Aug. 22, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. A private graveside service will be held at North Cemetery in Berlin at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Julian may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
