Westborough: Girl Scout Troop 30633 holds textile recycling event

Westborough – Westborough Girl Scout Troop 30633 will hold a textile-recycling, money-earning event Saturday, Jan. 31, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The drop off of items will be held at the West Main Street main entrance to the Westborough High School, 90 West Main St. The troop, led by Judy Wilchynski and Brenda Lord, is earning money for a big trip in June 2016.

Clean out your closets, attics and basements and donate unwanted textiles in a clean garbage bag– this can include adults’ and children’s clothes, shoes, boots (tied together if possible), hats, belts, purses, backpacks and blankets, sheets, towels, pillows, curtains, table clothes and stuffed animals. Items with rips, tears, and stains will be accepted, but must be clean and dry. Nothing wet or smelly, moldy or mildew, will be accepted. Most of the items will be re-used (worn) by people, but those items with rips and holes will be shredded and recycled and used as insulation, carpet backing, etc.

Drive into the high school driveway on West Main Street. Circle to the main door and drop off your donations to the Girl Scouts. Future collection dates include Sunday, April 26; Saturday, June 13; Saturday, Sept. 12; and Saturday, Nov. 21.
