Future of Shrewsbury mail distribution center remains uncertain

Shrewsbury – After over two years of uncertainty, the future of the U.S. Postal Service’s Central Massachusetts Postal Processing and Distribution Center is still unknown.

At the Jan. 29 meeting of the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen, Chair James Kane summarized his recent conversation with U.S. Representative James McGovern (MA-2) regarding the town’s ongoing concern over the future of the center.

More snow, dangerous temps predicted for early week

Region – By now I’m sure you have heard about the storm to impact central Massachusetts on Monday, and yes it’s true. A disturbance currently in the Midwest and moving east will develop a secondary center off the Delmarva coast later tomorrow. This storm will intensify and turn to the northeast, running up the coast and likely passing over or just to the west of the benchmark. While I do not expect a storm of the magnitude of our recent blizzard, this one has the potential to cause blizzard or near blizzard conditions over the southeast half of southern New England. There will be serious impacts from this storm as outlined below.

UMass nurse runs Boston Marathon to raise money for ALS

Shrewsbury – Thin Aung, 30, is a registered nurse at UMass Medical Center, University Campus. It is what she refers to as her “dream job.” She works the overnight shift in the medical intensive care unit where she takes care of patients with both rare and common diseases. It is here that Aung has come to know her patients and their families on a personal level – sometimes sharing experiences that have made a lasting impression on her. One such experience with a patient with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) motivated Aung, an avid runner, to do more to help. On Monday, April 20, she will run the Boston Marathon for the UMass ALS Cellucci Fund.

Shrewsbury man killed in Westborough motor vehicle crash

Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this evening:

On 1/30/15, at approximately 5:57 PM, the Westborough Police Department responded to 27 Otis St. for a motor vehicle crash. The arriving units found a 2008 Buick Lucerne with heavy front end damage and a backhoe with damage to its right side.
