Obit Andrew T. Dell’OlioShrewsbury – Andrew T. Dell’Olio, 59, a lifelong resident of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Monday, April 27, 2015.

A simple unassuming family man who would put himself aside for anyone in need of help, he was born June 21, 1955 in Worcester. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School, class of 1973, and then attended North Adams State University. He had lived in Shrewsbury his whole life.

Andy worked as a self-employed stone mason in construction all his life. He also worked with area contracting companies.

Andy leaves behind his longtime companion, Mary Dion; his parents, Andrew J. and Eleanore “Derry” (D’Errico) Dell’Olio; his brother, Joseph Dell’Olio, and nephew Derric Dell’Olio, all of Shrewsbury; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. A brother, Peter F. Dell’Olio, passed away in 1984.

Andy loved all types of music and listening to it. He loved NASCAR and NHRA drag racing and would visit the local tracks frequently. He enjoyed golf and was a member with his friends of a group they formed called the Lacuna State Golf Tournament. He was an active member of the Shrewsbury high alumni association and a member of its reunion committee. But, most of all, Andy loved being with friends; whether it was golf, softball in the 1980s, classmate, or just being in their company. That was Andy. He always had a laugh or smile for everyone. He will be sadly missed.

Funeral services for Andy will be held Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m., in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow next to his brother Peter in Mountain View Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the service.
