Westborough – The second annual Westborough Turkey Trot will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at Westborough High School (WHS), 90 W. Main St. Based on the success of last year’s event, organizers are planning for over 500 participants to run, walk or trot the 5k loop course, starting and ending at WHS. All event proceeds will benefit technology initiatives across all the Westborough Public Schools.
The 5k road race begins at 9 a.m. followed by the Athletic Revolution Kids’ Fun Run on the WHS track at 10 a.m. Registration is now open for both events and can be found at www.westboroughturkeytrot.org. Turkey Trot 2015 tech t-shirts are included with the online registration through Friday, Nov. 6. Participants can also register on the day of the race in person at WHS. In the spirit of Thanksgiving the Turkey Trot Committee will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Westborough Food Pantry at the event.
The race is a family friendly community-wide event promoting health and fitness, while raising money for a common goal, improved technology throughout the Westborough School District. Last year race funds were used to purchase iPads and carts for Armstrong, Fales and Hastings elementary schools while Mill Pond School received Chromebooks. Remaining monies were used for technology upgrades to the foreign language lab at WHS.
Major event sponsors include TD Bank, the Westborough Civic Club, Roche Bros., Hannah Kane Charity Classic, Athletic Revolution, Tufts University Veterinary, BJs Wholesale Club, Get in Shape for Women and PR Running. Sponsor opportunities are still available. For information, contact [email protected] or visit www.westboroughturkeytrot.org.
