5479604_300x300_1Marlborough – Peter DiRico, 95, of Marlborough, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015.

Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Paul and Pasqualina (Marino) DiRico and the husband of Mary (Monahan) DiRico, to whom he had been married for the past 69 years.

A veteran of WWII, Mr. DiRico served in the Army Air Corps in Australia and New Guinea, retiring in 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He had been employed for Fay-Byrne Plumbing Company and retired from General Motors Corporation, Framingham.

He was an avid outdoorsman who spent many happy hours hunting and fishing in the woods, waters, and shores throughout New England.

He was also a passionate cribbage player and enjoyed nothing better than “skunking” his opponents unless it was playing a practical joke on many of the victims throughout his lifetime.

Mr. DiRico loved watching, and in his younger years, participating in, all sports, especially Marlborough High School Ice Hockey. He was a life member of the Marlborough Fish and Game, the Italian American Veteran’s Post 45, Marlborough, and a charter member of the Bolton Street Association.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Paul DiRico of Nashua, N.H., James DiRico of Marlborough, Dennis DiRico and his wife Karen of Marlborough, and Peter DiRico of Sanibel Island, Fla.; his daughters, Ann DiRico of Sanibel Island, Fla., Frances Geagan and her husband d Michael of Marlborough, and Mary Patricia DiRico of Sanibel Island, Fla.; his grandchildren, Jarrod, Nicholas, Patrick, Anthony, Lia, Christopher, Kyle, Brianna, and Samantha; and his great-grandchildren, Connor and Madelyn. He was also the brother of the late Rocco, Philip, and Joseph DiRico and Theresa Trombetta and the father-in-law of the late Gayle DiRico.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 22, from 2-6 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m., at St. Matthew’s Church, 105 Southville Rd., Southborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
