Southborough – Over 1,100 runners and walkers worked up an appetite Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27, by participating in the ninth annual Gobble Wobble 5K Road Race and Two-Mile Walk, beginning and ending at Trottier Middle School. A Kids Fun Run followed with children ages 3 to 11 competing in three age categories.
Recreation Director Doreen Ferguson announced the winners in several age divisions. Tony Fierimonte of Northborough finished first overall in 15:18. For the second consecutive year, Marie Davenport of Guilford, Conn., was the first-place female, this time in 17:31. Cash prizes totaling $1,200 went to the top three male and female runners.
The popular fundraiser is hosted by the Friends of Southborough Recreation (FOSR). This year’s proceeds will go toward replacing the playground at Fay Memorial Park on Central Street. Follow FOSR on Facebook at facebook.com/friendsofsouthboro.
