Northborough – Lincoln Street School welcomed four members of the Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) lacrosse teams and youth coaches Peter Larsen and Robert Flynn from Northborough-Southborough Youth Lacrosse Dec. 9 to introduce the sport to students. The ARHS students, Colton King, Juliet Chapin, Mike Martens and Thomas Polutchko, read the book referred to as “The Story of Lacrosse” to the first-grade physical education classes, explaining its Native American roots. After the reading, the students were shown wooden lacrosse sticks that were made using historically accurate methods. The high school athletes did a demonstration of catching and throwing and then the grade one students joined in the demonstration.
