Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Shrewsbury – David L. Nourse, 84, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Nourse was born in Framingham, son of the late Leon and Louise (Johnson) Nourse. He graduated from Westborough High School in 1949 and later from Worcester Junior College with a degree in Business. He then volunteered and entered the United States Army serving his country proudly during the Korean War.

David had worked at the former Riley Stoker in Worcester for over 33 years; retiring as a project manager in1988.

David held several memberships, including being a member and Past Master of the Siloam Lodge of Masons AF & AM in Westborough; a Past Patron of the Bethany Chapter #13, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of the Aleppo Shriners and the Scottish Rites Bodies and its chorus; and a former member of the First Congregational Church in Shrewsbury. He also enjoyed reading and was an avid student of American Civil War History.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Sandra E. (Van Dyck) Nourse; a son, Peter C. Nourse and his wife Kathy of Barnstead, N.H.; a daughter, Victoria L. Nourse of Shrewsbury; a brother, Wesley W. Nourse of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy L. West of Cromwell, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Charlotte E. and Daniel F. Nourse, both of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by a brother, Roland G. Nourse.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with David’s family Monday, Dec. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:3o p.m., at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St. A funeral service honoring his life will begin at 1 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
