Marlborough – William F. “Frank” Hartman, 85, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 after being stricken ill. He was the husband of Nora (Flemming) Hartman, to whom he was married for 58 years.

He was born in Waltham, the son of the late William T. and Elizabeth (Tibbetts) Hartman, and moved to Marlborough in 1963.

He was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War, and worked many years at the Raytheon Corp. in Waltham as a foreman in wire wrap division before retiring in 1994.

Frank was a longtime member of the Akroyd Houde Post 132 of the American Legion in Marlborough. He was an avid golfer and skier, and enjoyed watching youth hockey games at the local rinks. His greatest joy though was spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lisa Hederstedt of Fitchburg; one brother, Ralph Hartman of Holliston; two grandchildren, Anders and Kierstin Hederstedt; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, David, and Frederick Hartman, and a sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” Pederson.

His funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  Visiting hours at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough, will take place Friday, Jan. 14, from 5-8 p.m.
