Marlborough – It‘s flu season, but it’s also the season to contract norovirus. Norovirus is very contagious and causes severe gastroenteritis. You are most contagious when you are sick with norovirus illness, and during the first few days after you recover from norovirus illness.  There is not a vaccine to prevent getting the norovirus like the flu, therefore, it’s imperative to practice proper hand washing to try to prevent it and spread it. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can be used in addition to hand washing. But, they should not be used as a substitute for washing with soap and water.
