Obit Marion PaquetteMarlborough – Marion E. (Perry) Temple Balser Paquette, 95, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 after a very brief period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Edward Paquette, who died in 2002. She was also the wife of the late Leslie Temple, who died in 1996, and the late Ralph Balser.

She was born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Michael McCarthy and the late Ethel Perry, and lived there all of her life.

Marion worked many years as a waitress for many places, including the Green Lantern, Sharon’s City Diner, Carbone’s Restaurant, White’s Corner Restaurant, the Eli Whitney House, Nick’s Diner, Howard Johnson, the Rialto in Marlborough, Clark’s, the White Cliffs, Sunshine Dairy, Don’s Doughnuts, and many others.

She was a former member of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary in Hudson. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in Marlborough, where she sang in the choir as a child.

She was a very strong person, both mentally and physically. As she used to say, “The toughness and stubbornness of an Irish woman and the dignity of an English lady, but most of all a very Patriotic American woman.” She had a never-ending love for all of her family.

She is survived by one son, Alfred Temple and his wife Fran of Hudson; two daughters, Sandra Lane of Marlborough and Marilyn Mahoney of Marlborough; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Mitchell of Hudson; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Lester Temple, and three daughters, Lorelei Temple, Roberta Balser, and Joyce Flint.

Her funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m., in Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5 Washington St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough.  Visiting hours at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com)  will be held Thursday, Jan. 28, from 5-8 p.m.
