Obit Irina Gyurdzhan-DimentbergShrewsbury – Irina Akimovna Gyurdzhan-Dimentberg, 75, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Irina was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, the daughter of the late Akim Gilodo and Dinora Gyurdzhan. She earned a Master’s Degree in Cinematography from Moscow Polygraphic Institute. She immigrated to the United States in November 1991 with her husband, Mikhail Dimentberg, and they eventually settled in Shrewsbury, along with their daughter, Olga Gyurdzhan, and grandson, Arsen Gourjian.

Irina was a conversationalist who enjoyed interacting with people and always tried to teach someone something new. True to her education in cinematography, she very much enjoyed watching movies. She was also a bibliophile with a love for the arts, and especially enjoyed going to the theatre, opera, and ballet.

Irina loved to see the world in her many travels with her husband, Mikhail, but she most loved Paris, Vienna, and Norway. She also loved being at her home and had a keen eye for decorating. She was also a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Whitinsville.

In addition to her husband, Mikhail Dimentberg, Irina is survived by her daughter, Olga Gyurdzhan and her husband Boris Osipian of Shrewsbury; a grandson, Arsen Gourjian of Shrewsbury; a step-grandson, David Osipian of Jerusalem; and two cousins, Yelena Mayer of Germany and Yelena Geodakyan of Glendale, Calif.

Irina wanted to be buried in Moscow along with her family. All services will be held privately. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
