Obit Joan DavisNorthborough – Joan E. (Baker) Davis passed away suddenly at home Thursday, March 24, 2016 due to heart complications. She was 83.

She leaves behind her children, Scott R. Davis of Northborough and Pamela E. Hite of Shrewsbury; her two grandchildren, Nicole A. Hite and Alyssa E. Hite; her brother, Bruce S. Baker and his wife Sylvia of Southbridge; and cousins, nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard L. Baker.

Born and raised in Southbridge, Joan was the daughter of the late Leo and Evelyn (Feige) Baker. She raised her family in Northborough and lived there for 50-plus years.

Joan graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester in 1953. Following graduation, she practiced nursing at Memorial until the 1970s. She was a Supervisor of Nurses at Westridge Health Care Center in Marlborough and later held the position of R.N. Director of Admissions at Lachance Center in Gardner. She retired from the Beaumont Nursing Center in Westborough.

After retirement, she continued to work part time for Right at Home Care in Westborough. Her distinguished career in Nursing continued into her 80s.

Joan was devoted to her family and friends. Her children, grandchildren, and close friends were her world. She attended St. Luke’s Church in Westborough over the years, and held a deep and abiding faith. She was an avid reader and loved trips to the beach and times spent with her family.

Funeral services will be held privately at Hays Funeral Home in Northborough. There are no calling hours.
