Region – The TechSandBox Life Sciences Special Interest Group (SIG) will host a forum featuring keynote speaker Daniel Levy, MD, director of the Framingham Heart Study, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Professor of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine, Monday, April 11. The forum will be held at TechSandBox, Inc., Hopkinton Innovation Park, 105B South St., Hopkinton. Food, networking and registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with program proceedings at 6 – 6:15 p.m.
The topic of the forum is “Clinical Potential of Cardiovascular Epigenetics and the Role of Heredity in Disease.” Dr. Carolyn Ho of Brigham and Women’s Hospital will join the discussion in bringing academic and clinical perspectives regarding the explosive growth in genetic and epigenetic characterizations of cardiovascular disease states and biomarkers related to risk factors and personalized therapies. Mark Hediger and Pete Allen of the Life Science Steering Committee moderate.
The well-known Framingham Heart Study began in the 1940s with more than 5,000 participants in order to track and collect data related to heart disease.
TechSandBox programs are open to the public and are designed as a community for people interested in key science and technology subjects, often thought-leading.
Registration is $25 up until a week before the program; $30 until 2 p.m. on the day of the program; $35 at door. Members of this SIG are admitted free.
