Obit Raymond A. Plante Sr.Shrewsbury – Raymond A. Plante Sr., 76, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester and Sutton, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016, peacefully, with his family by his side.

Raymond was born in Worcester, son of Louis J. Plante and Louise (Favreau) Plante.  After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, he married his love, Therese A. Belanger.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 54 years, Terrie; his son Raymond A. Plante Jr. and his wife Lynne; his daughter, Kimberly A Milewski and her husband David; his son, Michael T. Plante and his wife Greta; his daughter, Kelley Holloway and her husband Kevin; and his daughter, Gina D. Mancuso. He is also survived by his sister, A. Rita Johnson; his brother, Roger Plante and his wife Jennie; 14 grandchildren who adored their “Poppie”; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Raymond was a member of the Holy Family/St. Joseph Parish. He worked as a glazier for the National Glass Company before retiring.

Ray was an excellent jack of all trades from carpentry to cooking. He loved to talk sports, politics, and anything else that he could possibly create a debate over. He loved to tease and joke with everyone and anyone he could. He loved his television and computer, the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. He will truly be missed, but has left us all with so many wonderful memories.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 5, from 4-7 p.m., in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 6, from the funeral home with a procession to St Joseph Church, 41 Hamilton   St., where his Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.
