Letter to the editor: Northborough community shows support for Girl Scouts

To the editor:

Thank you for saying “Yes to Girl Scouts!” Thank you for opening your hearts and wallets to Northborough Girl Scouts who asked you to buy cookies. Because you said “yes,” Northborough Girl Scouts sold over 22,000 boxes of cookies! Your purchase helps girls develop life skills including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. Each troop decides how to spend their cookie proceeds and many will travel or experience camp together. Many troops use some of those cookie dollars to complete community service projects like planting gardens or buying food for the food pantry.

Northborough Girl Scouts would also like to extend a special thank you to all of the Northborough businesses that hosted cookie booths during the cookie sale. We appreciate the support of our local businesses: Walmart, Lowe’s Variety & Meat Market, Northborough House of Pizza, Shattuck Pharmacy, Teamworks, Rocky’s Ace Hardware, St. Mary’s Credit Union and Next Stage Associates.

Girl Scouting works in our community because of selfless volunteers. Thank you to the Girl Scout volunteers and families who dedicated countless hours making this year’s Cookie Program an overwhelming success.

Again, thank you for your support. By saying “yes” to Girl Scout cookies you are giving girls the opportunity to learn, grow and become leaders who can change the world. Because that’s what Girl Scouting is – a place where girls gain courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place.
