Obit John J. AdamonisNorthborough – John “Jack” J. Adamonis, 71, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 in UMass Memorial – University Campus after a short illness.

He leaves behind his brother, Robert Adamonis and wife Ellen of Northborough; his sister, Wendy VanGerven of Petersham; his nephew, Kyle VanGerven; his nieces, Jennifer Adamonis, Ashleigh Santa Maria, and Valerie VanGerven; his great-niece, Ava Santa Maria; and cousins.

Born in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of the late John and E. Ethel (Fryer) Adamonis, and was a lifelong resident of Northborough. He graduated from Algonquin Regional High School, class of 1963.

He worked many years at Sawyer’s Bowladrome.

Jack was best known as the “unofficial mayor of Northborough.” With his ear glued to his scanner, he knew every little bit of news that went on inside of Northborough. He was a chatterbox who knew most everyone on his daily bicycle rides through town.

Jack was an avid gardener and fisherman. He loved to feed the birds in his yard. He quietly cared for the townspeople.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 28, from 5-7 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. A private graveside will be held in Howard Street Cemetery.
