Obit Robert C. Mele Sr.Marlborough – Robert C. Mele, Sr., 64, of Marlborough, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 after being stricken ill at his home. Born and raised in Milford, he was the son of the late Carlo S. and Alma (Alves) Mele and the husband for the past 30 years of Marlene E. (Goneau) Mele of Marlborough.

A graduate of Quinsigamond Community College, Bob received an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He had been employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 35 years. He began his career as a storekeeper for the former Cushing Hospital, Framingham, and later became a purchasing agent for the Massachusetts State Police.

He was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Massachusetts State Employees, and the USS St. Paul Society, and was an avid New England sports fan, with the Red Sox at the top of the list. He was a quiet man with a quick wit and the knowledge to answer any trivia question.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert C. Mele Jr. of Marlborough; his daughter, Lisa Mele and her husband Frank Lindsey of Clinton; his grandson, David Lindsey; his aunt, Betty Alves of Rhode Island; and many cousins and several godchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 3, from 4-7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 4, at 10 a.m., at St., Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medway Street (Rte. 109), Milford.
