Dennis W. Doe, 57, of Grafton

48

Obit Dennis W. DoeGrafton – Dennis W. Doe, 57, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Doe of Madrid, Spain; his parents, Ken and Colleen Doe of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Tom Stewart of Bowie, Md; numerous cousins, including Ralph Doe, Mary Landi, and Cindy Flynn; and many dear friends, in particular Guy Pichette and his family who took care of Dennis in his time of need.

Dennis was born in Worcester and grew up in Charlton. He graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School, class of 1977. The same year, at the age of 18, he opened his first restaurant, Grafton Coffee Shop, all while taking college courses, and working at UPS.

He eventually focused all of his passion and energy on the coffee shop, which was later renamed to Danielle’s Breakfast shortly after the birth of his daughter. He poured his heart and soul into the restaurant and in 2000 it was expanded to include Danielle’s Pub, which became a mainstay in the town of Grafton. He worked tirelessly for 40 years building his dream; a place where friends could gather, celebrate the good times, and find support during the more difficult moments.

Dennis enjoyed spending time with friends that would become family whether playing a challenging game of cribbage, visiting Foxwoods, or telling stories of good times past. Above all, he loved simply sitting, talking with his daughter, and imparting life lessons which will be forever cherished.

Dennis was a hardworking, compassionate, warm-hearted man who became a father figure to many. He will be remembered for his quiet, giving nature and his ability to put a smile on anyone’s face even during the darkest of days. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by many.

The Doe family would like to thank the staff at Dana Farber Cancer Center in Milford for their kindness, encouragement, and support over the past five years.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 5, from 5-8 p.m., at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton. A memorial Mass is planned for Friday, May 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Dennis with a donation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
