Cambridge – Richard D. White, 71, died Monday, May 2, 2016 after a long period of failing health.

He was born in Cambridge, the son of the late William A. and Ruth C. (Bennett) White and lived most of his life there. He was the former husband of the late Kazuyo Nakashima.

Mr. White was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School, class of 1962. He then attended Stonehill College until joining the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He went on to serve 17 years with the Marine Corps.

After being honorably discharged from the military, Mr. White went back to school, earned his degree from Stonehill College, and went on to work in the human resources department for many different companies.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathryn White of Marlborough; a brother, Robert White of Waltham; a grandson, Isaiah Washington; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William White Jr., and a sister, Ruth Tamoosh.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, May 6, from 5-8 p.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St. Marlborough.
