Robert J. Cain, 81, of Hudson

36

Hudson – Robert J. “Grampy” Cain, of Hudson, passed peacefully Friday, May 13, 2016 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Robert Camacho of Lancaster, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born Dec. 3, 1934 in Cambridge to Erma Cain of Wayland.

After an 11-year battle with bone cancer, Bob is now reunited with the love of his life, Jeanne A (Delaney) Cain, who passed in 2008.

Bob leaves his six children, Lynne Camacho, husband Robert (Robby) Camacho, Robert Cain, Daniel Cain, Douglas Cain, wife Tammy, Lawrence Cain, wife Maureen, and Thomas Cain, wife Cheryl; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Bob was a carpet installer for many years in Massachusetts. He and Jeanne moved to Shelburne, Vt. and ran a carpet supply store in Burlington, Vt. before retiring to New Port Richey, Fla. Working part-time as a traffic control officer for the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department, Bob enjoyed a simple retirement doing work he loved.

Grampy’s passions in life besides his beautiful wife were playing bass in his beloved band “Spider Bridge.” He was an avid New England sports fan, and was especially passionate about the Red Sox.

He leaves behind his best girl, Mazie, his cocker spaniel whom he adored. Being with family meant everything to Grampy. Anyone who knew him enjoyed his good humor and ability to “tell it like it is.”

Our family would like to thank the VNA hospice care for the guidance and personal care given to dad on his final days with us.

Family and friends may attend a calling hour Saturday, May 21, from 12-1 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home (www.tighehamilton.com), 50 Central St., Hudson, followed by a service and celebration of Robert’s life at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert may be made to VNA Care Network and Hospice, 199 Rosewood Dr., Danvers, MA 01923.
