Westborough – The Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough and Reverend Bev Waring have welcomed Abigail Gower as the new music director.

A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Music Performance, Gower is also on her way to earning a Master of Music Performance from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge. She most recently served as accompanist and organist at the First Congregational Church in Brewer, Maine.

“I am excited to step into the world of Unitarian Universalist music which reflects this liberal religion, drawing from all the world’s major faith traditions as well as from the spirituality of indigenous peoples,” Gower said.

A past choir member herself, she also looks forward to directing the church choir.

“Sometimes we all live in our heads too much,” Gower continued. “Music is our heart connection. An effective choir, along with the minister’s words, can lead a congregation to that heart connection that touches people of all ages sitting out in the pews.”

The Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough is located at 64 Main St. For more information, visit them on Facebook (Unitarian Universalist Westborough), on their website (www.uucsw.org) or call 508-366-2635.
