Obit Patricia HollowayShrewsbury – Patricia A. (Rafferty) Holloway, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Monday, May 23, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 69. In heaven, she celebrates her 70th birthday with her many family and friends who have gone before her.

Pat was born May 25, 1946 in Worcester, a daughter of the late James M. and Margaret (Tangney) Rafferty. Raised and educated in Worcester, she graduated from the former Ascension High School, and Aug. 26, 1967 she married her high school sweetheart, Francis J. Holloway, in Christ the King Church. They lived in Shrewsbury over 49 years.

Pat began work as a clerk and secretary in the Worcester County Sherriff’s Department. She later worked for the Massachusetts State Lottery before retiring in 2003.

Her life revolved around her family. There was nothing more important in life to her than watching her family grow. She cherished her time on the beaches at Hampton, Aruba, and St. Martin, and wintering in Fort Meyers, Fla. She loved snowmobiling and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and also loved to dance. She was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians in Worcester and was a former deputy sheriff.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, John and Carol Rafferty.

She leaves her husband of 49 years, Francis; their children, Michael F. Holloway and his wife Lori of Shrewsbury and Kevin F. Holloway and his wife Kelley of Sutton, and she was the much loved Nana to Lindsey, Max, Meaghan, Michael and Daniel. She also leaves her brother, James M. Rafferty and his wife Carol of Rochester Hills, Mich.; her in-laws, Marie and James O’Neil of Somerset, N.J., and Robert S. Holloway, Paul and Margaret Holloway, all of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Family and friends will honor and remember Patricia’s life by gathering for calling hours Wednesday, May 25, from 4-8 p.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 26, at 10 a.m., in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
