Westborough – Westborough Girl Scout Troop 30633 is partnering with the Westborough School Department to host a viewing of the 2011 documentary “Miss Representation.” The film will be presented at Westborough High School, 90 East Main St., Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m.

The public is invited to attend this viewing. Because there is some graphic material, the film is most suitable for those over the age of 14.

Miss Representation is an acclaimed film about how the portrayal of women and girls in the media impacts self-image and empowerment. Boys will learn from this film too, impacting their attitudes and behaviors.  The film has stories and interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics with a strong call to action for a new perspective.

Girl Scout Troop 30633 has 21 members and is led Brenda Lord and Judy Wilchynski. The film event is the troop’s take action project for the Mission Sisterhood Journey. The girls met with School Superintendent Amber Bock to discuss this project over the past few months. They decided to purchase the documentary and donate it to the school system for use within the curriculum.  The link to preview the trailer is http://therepresentationproject.org/film/miss-representation.
