Westborough – The Westborough Democratic Town Committee awarded their annual scholarship in memory of Paul Salvadore at their May meeting. Salvadore, a longtime member of the Democratic Committee, passed away in October of 2015. He was a life member of the committee and had served as its chair.

The recipient of the scholarship is Dan Moon, a graduate of Westborough High School who will be attending Tufts University in the fall. He has been active with the Democratic Party since he was a freshman. During his high school career he has led voter registration drives, served as a fellow during Senator Ed Markey’s election, and organized a campaign internship program for Westborough High School students. During his senior year, Dan served as chair of the High School Democrats of Massachusetts.

Senator Elizabeth Warren sent a citation recognizing Dan’s work, which was read by Ilyse Levine-Kanji, School Committee member. Dan spoke about his experiences on Democratic campaigns. Members of the committee, including Betty Salvadore, wife of Paul Salvadore, were joined by three of Betty and Paul’s children as the group shared memories of Paul and his work for the Democratic Party.

The committee typically meets on the third Tuesday of the month at Tatnuck Booksellers in Westborough. Area Democratic legislators, including Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) and representatives Carolyn Dykema (D-Holliston) and Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough), will be speaking at the July 19 meeting at 7 p.m. For more information on the Democratic Party or any of their meetings, contact [email protected] or 508-366-0485.
