Obit William J. Johndrow JrShrewsbury – William “Billy” J. Johndrow Jr., 66, of Shrewsbury, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, at Saint Francis Home in Worcester. He is survived by his friends and caregivers, Ronald and Delores Johnson of Northborough.

William was born July 29, 1949 in Worcester, at the former City Hospital, son of the late William J. and Ruth (Byrne) Johndrow. His father was a full-blooded Native American of the Chippewa Nation, and his mother was a Worcester native. They lived in Utah for many years, before Billy moved back to Central Massachusetts, finally settling in Shrewsbury 35 years ago.

He was proud of his Indian heritage and was an avid reader and studier of Indian life.  He also loved to read Nostradamus and books about predictions of the future.

He worked for 40 years as a machinist at Standard Lock Washer Company in Worcester, before he retired.

He had a strong faith in God, and was known to always have his rosary in hand. He never complained, and was a sweet and caring man.

All services will be held privately, and he will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel of Worcester is assisting with arrangements.
