Shrewsbury – At their June 28 meeting, Shrewsbury selectmen considered an application from Patrick Motors to add a 25-car lot nearby their sales location at 247 Boston Turnpike. The application was for an Extension of Premises to a Class II License to be displayed at 255 Boston Turnpike.
James Patrick was present for the filing. He told the board that he was leasing the extra lot for display purposes only and that there would not be a sales office or any other building on the site. Sales would still occur at the 247 Boston Turnpike location. There would be no changes to the 255 Turnpike location. He indicated that he had taken a three-year lease on the 255 property which would also be used to store cars being recalled for safety issues and might involve long-term, off-site storage.
Selectmen wanted to be sure that the extra lot was to be used for car maintenance storage only and that the storage would be temporary. After Patrick’s assurances, the board approved the filing by unanimous vote.
In other business, Howard Grossman reported to the board that the Lakeway Commons Project is on schedule, with a grand opening planned for July 2017; Qdoba Restaurant Corp., dba Qdoba Mexican Eats, 193 Boston Turnpike, was unanimously granted a Common Victualler License, although an opening date is still uncertain; and Robert Tozeski and Paul Howard gave the board an update on the new water treatment plant, which is proceeding as planned.
