Worcester – The art exhibit TalkingTrash/TimeTraveling opens Saturday, Aug. 6 and runs throughout the month at the Sprinkler Factory, 38 Harlow St., Worcester. The exhibit of collage and “found object” sculpture (assemblage) by local artists Susan Black and Donalyn Schofield features both selected favorites and new work.

In this show, Black’s Talking Trash constructions, composed mainly of recycled, everyday materials, depict personal relationships and make social commentary, in contrast to Schofield’s Time Traveling creations of carefully chosen objects depicting time in life and in art itself.

“The differences in how we use color, size, texture, daring and restraint in these wall-hung and freestanding pieces—in addition to the contrast in subject matter—make an exciting, unusual visual combination, ideal for the Sprinkler Factory’s dramatic setting,” said Black.

The Opening reception will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. The gallery hours are:  Saturdays and Sundays, 1 to 4 p.m. throughout August; and Wednesdays, Aug. 10, 17 and 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. The closing reception will be held Sunday, Aug. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Schofield will present two workshops in association with the exhibit during August:

Paste Paper Workshop. Saturday, Aug. 13, 1 to 4 p.m. Using paste recipes, simple tools and pigments, create amazingly colorful papers to transform into cards, folded gift containers or use in your own collage.

Collage Workshop. Sunday, Aug. 21, 1 to 4 p.m. Learn about techniques and materials used to create long-lasting pieces. Bring your paste papers from the previous workshop or other papers and treasures you’ve
