Obit Robert J. DeMiliaHudson – Robert James DeMilia, 49, of Hudson, a former longtime resident of Stow, died unexpectedly at his residence Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Robert leaves his loving parents, Richard DeMilia Sr. and Jean (Carbone) DeMilia of Stow, and his two children, Audrey and Sam DeMilia, along with their mother and the former wife of Robert, Rita Pollack, all of Foxboro. He is also survived by his two sisters, Janice Bock and her husband Robert of Amherst, N.H. and Gail Foley and her husband Michael of Amherst, N.H.; his three brothers, Richard DeMilia Jr. and his wife Beverly of Framingham, David DeMilia and his wife Deborah of Rhode Island, and Michael DeMilia and his wife Michele of Sterling, along with many nieces and nephews.

Robert was born in Groton and raised in Stow. He attended local schools and was a 1985 graduate of Nashoba Regional High School. He later received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester and his Master’s Degree in Communication Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.

He was a self-employed software engineer in the field of medical equipment software for many years locally, and enjoyed attending many courses to keep his astute knowledge in the field current.

Robert had many interests in his life, but most of all he valued his family and cherished his children. He always had a broad appreciation of music and in his youth became an accomplished drummer. His unique ability as a public speaker was appreciated by many and was always very proud of his status as a “Distinguished Toastmaster.”

He will truly be missed by all who loved and knew him.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 27, at 12 p.m., in Holy Trinity Church, 15 Still River Rd. (Route 110), Harvard. Burial will be held privately in Brookside Cemetery of Stow. Family and friends may attend calling hours Wednesday, July 27, from 9-11 a.m. prior to the Mass, at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson (www.tighehamilton.com).

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert may be made to the Stow Council on Aging, C/O Town Building, Stow, MA 01775 or the Stow Food Pantry, P.O. Box 437, Stow, MA 01775.
