Obit Matthew L. BiscegliaShrewsbury – Matthew L. Bisceglia, 65, a lifetime resident of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2016, surrounded by loved ones, in the UMass Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Matt leaves his loving family, including two brothers, Joseph J Bisceglia and his wife Sharon of Holden and Mark Bisceglia of Shrewsbury; a nephew, Anthony Bisceglia; a niece, Kaitlyn Ledoux-Bisceglia; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph and Kathleen (Hanks) Bisceglia, and lived in Shrewsbury all his life. He was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School, Fitchburg State College, Mass College of Art, Assumption College, and Rutgers University, where he received his Master’s Degree in Fine Arts.

He was a former member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Shrewsbury. His mother was a founding member of that congregation.

Matt had a passion for the arts. He was an art teacher at several Worcester Schools. He loved painting and has had his work on display at various locations, most recently at the Jewish Healthcare Center.

Matt loved music and was a soloist at many area churches at funerals. He enjoyed antique shopping, and being with his family. He was a member of Arts Worcester and also the Shrewsbury Artist Guild, and was active at the Jewish Community Center. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Matt’s funeral service will be held Thursday, July 28, at 10 a.m., in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 440 Main St., Shrewsbury. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 27, from 4-7 p.m., in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Interment will be with his parents in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
