Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning:
On 8/2/16, at approximately 7:30 AM, the Westborough Police Dept. responded to the intersection of South St. and Denny St. for a motor vehicle accident between a pickup truck and a trash hauling truck.
The arriving units observed a 2009 Mack truck owned by E.L. Harvey and Sons of Hopkinton Rd. Westborough facing north in the southbound lane. A 2005 Ford pickup truck was facing south in the southbound lane. The accident appeared to be a head on collision. The operator of the pickup was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Westborough Fire Dept.
The operator of the pickup was identified as Christopher J. Brown, age 53 of 42 Mill Rd. Westborough. He was treated by Westborough Fire Paramedics for serious but non-life threatening internal injuries. He was transported to U. Mass. Medical.
The operator of the trash truck was identified as Matthew Dickie, age 38 of 18 Murray Ave. Auburn. He was not injured.
The initial investigation by Off. David Holt showed that the trash truck was heading north on South St. A vehicle being operated by a Hopkinton resident was stopped waiting to turn left onto Denny St. The trash truck operator applied his brakes but the vehicle slid to the left striking the pickup truck.
The accident continues to be investigated by the CEMLEC Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Mass. State Police Commercial Vehicle team.
