Marlborough – The planning is now underway for the city of Marlborough’s 65th annual Labor Day Parade (MLD), which will be held on Monday, Sept. 5 starting at 12 p.m.

Organizers said that the parade’s historical success is due in large part to the sponsorships and donations it has received and the numerous residents that annually volunteer to make the parade possible. As the parade approaches, the parade committee is currently seeking donations and volunteers.

All sponsors and donors will be acknowledged on the parade website, in the media, and in the Marlborough Labor Day Parade booklet. Many early submission donors including St. Mary’s Credit Union, Ken’s Foods, Marlborough Savings Bank, Murphy Insurance, and Universal Window and Door have already been recognized on the parade’s website (marlboroughlabordayparade.com) and Facebook page.

Volunteers will also be acknowledged on the MLD parade website and will receive a 2016 MLD parade volunteer thank you t-shirt. Residents and surrounding community members, 16 years and older, that are interested in volunteering for the parade, can sign up via the MLD parade website’s volunteer tab.

The MLD parade committee is in the process of selecting parade participants, including favorites such as Hallamore Corporation Clydesdale Horses, Aleppo Shriners, and the Worcester Sound and Light Carousel Band Organ.

The committee has chosen this year’s theme, Marlborough – Where Tradition and Economic Vitality Meet, and have selected Marlborough resident Walter Bonin as the 2016 MLD Parade grand marshal.
