Shrewsbury – Melissa N. (Thomas) Jones, 76, of Shrewsbury, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.
She was born in Connersville, Ind., daughter of the late Harold and Lammatta (Settles) Moore. Melissa graduated from Richmond High School and Earlham College both in Richmond, Ind.
Melissa had worked as a dispatcher for Dyn Air at the Worcester Airport for over 15 years before she retired. She served her country honorably with the United States Navy.
Melissa’s leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Gerald E. Jones Sr.; three children, Michelle R. Hart of California, Yvonne M. Jones of Worcester, and Gerald E. Jones Jr. and his wife Dawn of Charlton; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Valerie Kay Slade of Arkansas and Mary Ann Wilson of Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth “Terry” Stone of Shrewsbury and Carmella Jones of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life, with military honors, was held Aug. 13 at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral.
