Hudson – James B. Clarke Sr., 71, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his residence Monday, Aug. 15, 2016. He leaves his beloved wife of 39 years, Suzanne P. (Correia) Clarke of Hudson.

Jim was born in Brighton, son of the late Harry and Glenna (Weade) Clarke. He was raised in Newton, where he attended local schools and was a 1963 graduate of Newton High School. He had resided in Hudson the past 37-plus years and was employed as a meat cutter locally for many years, working with the Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. and also Purity Supreme supermarkets.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, James B. Clarke Jr. and his girlfriend Brenda Cole of Lowell, Dianne Lowe and her husband Ron of Hudson, N.H., Laurie Allain and her husband Jeffrey of Londonderry, N.H., and Phillip Balkus and his wife Michelle of Franklin. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gordon Clarke and his wife Edna of Londonderry, N.H., John Clarke and his wife Maria of Meridan, Conn.; his five loving grandchildren, Tara Cheidell, April Viera, Casey Meehan, Salvador Balkus, and Anna Balkus; and his four adoring great-grandchildren, Braedon, Aaron, J.J., and Mason, along with his many nieces and nephews whom fondly called Jim “The Uncle.” He was the brother of the late Richard and Harry Clarke, Muriel Matthews, and Mary Fogg, and was predeceased by his granddaughter, McKenzie Lowe.

Golfing with friends and traveling with his wife Suzanne and family were some of Jim’s many hobbies and interests. He truly cherished any occasion or event when spending time with his family, especially later with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His unique personality and loving spirit will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Family and friends may attend calling hours Thursday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. (www.tighehamilton.com). A service and celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 12  at the funeral home. Burial services will be held at a later date in Saint Michael’s Cemetery of Hudson.
