Marlborough’s 21st annual Heritage Festival begins Sept. 30

Marlborough – The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce recently announced the 21st annual celebration of Heritage Weekend will be held Friday, Sept. 30, through Sunday, Oct. 2.

On Friday night, Music, Brews and BBQ will provide live music under the starts at the City Hall Parking deck, behind Marlborough City Hall, starring the Hitchcock Blondes for happy hours 5 to 8 p.m. and the Thirty 6 Red from 8 to 10 p.m. BBQ by Fireflies and Jack’s Abbey beer will be available as well as an assortment of wines.

On Saturday, the second annual Oktoberfest, featuring food, music, fun and games, begins at 12 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m.   During the Oktoberfest, the Fireball Run, an adventure-travel television series and live-action adventure competition, will stop by during their racing adventure and have lunch as they complete their eight-day run across the Northeast. Residents are encouraged to join in welcoming the racers as they travel down the Main Street and stop at City Hall to have the chance to be featured on national television. The Schwarz Schafe Oom Pah Band will play from 12 to 3 p.m. and Bavarian Brothers Oom Pah Band from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by the ScatterShot from 7 to 10 p.m. Assabet Valley, Buffet Way Catering and Marlborough House of Pizza will offer a variety of foods, some German, of course.

On Sunday, the Heritage Festival family fun festivities begin with the Marlborough Striders Marlborough Mile participants finishing at the Marlborough City Hall at 10 a.m. The Heritage Festival Street Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the downtown Marlborough Main Street with the Chowder/Chili Challenge taking place on Florence Street from 12 to 2 p.m. Crafters, vendors, cultural displays, food, entertainment and children’s activities will be offered as well as live music provided by Flashback. Dance entertainment will be performed by the Spanish Community Dancers and The Velvet Moon Gypsies as well as other entertainment groups.

From now until September 11 only, early birds may purchase a package, which includes all three events, Music, Brews and BBQ, Oktoberfest and Chowder/Chili Challenge, for $20 – a $35 value. Early birds will also receive a mug as well as a free beer or wine.
