Shrewsbury – Alice H. (Wadas) Mercik, 91, of Shrewsbury, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at UMass Memorial Healthcare in Worcester after a brief illness.
She was born in Bondsville, daughter of the late Apolonia (Bak) and Martin Wadas. She graduated from Palmer High School and Worcester Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1948.
She leaves her husband of 66 years, Chester J. Mercik; a son, James Mercik and his wife Susan Reid of Hartford, Conn.; and a daughter, Ann Sieben and her husband David of Niantic, Conn. She also leaves three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Anne Hudak, and four brothers, William, Stanley, Louis, and Edward Wadas.
Alice loved spending time with her family and excelled at baking, rug braiding, quilting, and numerous other arts and crafts.
Funeral services and burial will be private at her family’s convenience.
