Marlborough – Police Chief Mark Leonard released this statement today:
In August 2016 the Marlborough Police Investigations Unit initiated an investigation into the distribution of heroin in the city of Marlborough. Relative to this investigation, detectives and patrol officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of MA#2JD885 on September 28, 2016 at approximately 5:20pm on Bolton St. Prior to stopping the vehicle, detectives had developed probable cause that the occupants of the vehicle, Scott Martin and Sarah Holm, were in the process of picking a large amount of heroin for re-distribution. Mr. Martin and Ms. Holm have been one of the targets of the investigation. At the time of the stop Ms. Holm was operating the vehicle and Mr. Martin was the front passenger- the vehicle is registered to Ms. Holm.
Both Mr. Martin and Ms. Holm were removed from the vehicle and a larger bag containing numerous smaller bags of heroin was located on Mr. Martin. Also located on Mr. Martin were 5 mini zip-lock bags which contained a white powder that was consistent with cocaine. A subsequent search of the vehicle also revealed a pipe used in the smoking and inhalation of heroin. Both the heroin and the cocaine field tested positive for the respective substances and Mr. Martin and Ms. Holm were placed under arrest.
Mr. Martin’s criminal history revealed a prior guilty conviction for possession of heroin and based upon the quantity of heroin found on his person during this incident, he is charged with: Trafficking Heroin 18-36 grams, Possession with the intent to Distribute a Class A Substance(Heroin), Possession of a Class A subsequent offense(Heroin), Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Substance(Cocaine), Possession of a Class B Substance(Cocaine) subsequent offense and Conspiracy.
Ms. Holm is charged with Trafficking Heroin 18-36 grams, Possession with the intent to Distribute Class A Substance (Heroin), Possession of a Class A substance (Heroin), Possession with the intent to Distribute a Class B Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Class B Substance (Cocaine) and Conspiracy.
Both individuals were held without bail awaiting court arraignment on September 29, 2016.
