Westborough – The Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) announced the recipients of the 2016 WEF scholarships, Westborough High School graduates Emily Saylor and Aric Zhu.

Emily plans to attend The College of William and Mary with hopes to pursue some sort of service-oriented or counseling-based career. Emily has been inspired through her involvement with Best Buddies, an international organization dedicated to the inclusion and integration of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in friendships, the work force and daily life.

Aric will attend Northeastern University, double majoring in public health and biology. In his application essay, Aric proposed an innovative program at WHS, a photography club.

The scholarships were established for Westborough High School students who exhibit strong leadership qualities, are passionate about learning and have demonstrated creativity and innovation. This year, applicants were asked to submit a one-page essay describing a school-related club or program that they have been involved in that has inspired you or describing a program that they would like to see in the Westborough schools that is creative and innovative and would inspire students to learn and grow.

The Westborough Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering excellence and innovation in the Westborough public schools.
