obit-john-debairosMarlborough – John Henry deBairos, 84, of Marlborough, died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 in the company of his devoted friends, Izzmar Roche and Ali Hosseini.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Henry A. and Antoinette (Morel) deBairos. Proud of having always lived within a mile of City Hall, John graduated from Marlborough High School as class president and captain of the baseball and football teams.

After service in the U.S. Navy Seabees, John returned home and married Gloria Moura of Hudson. They owned the former Lynch’s Coffee Shop on Main Street, which John decorated with his portrait photographs of customers.

John loved travel, music, photography, and listening to peoples stories. He was a spiritual seeker and a man of strong political convictions, which he displayed on his porch, his truck his scooter and sometimes on placards at a prominent downtown corner.

Widowed for many years, John is survived by his nieces, nephews, and their families and countless friends whose lives he touched. He was the brother of the late Mary Walsh, Pauline Charbonneau, and Nita Holt.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, from 2-5 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
