Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Hudson – Pierre F. Vanasse, 73, of Hudson, formerly of Marlborough, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Claire M. (Balthazar) Vanasse of Hudson.

Pierre was born in Woonsocket, R.I., son of the late H. Paul and Laurette (Begin) Vanasse. He was a 1962 graduate of Holy Name High School in Worcester. He resided in Marlborough prior to moving to Hudson, where he has spent the past 49 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War Era, serving in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged.

He was employed as a purchasing manager by Fahey Exhibits for 25-plus years, and later worked for several other local exhibit houses until his retirement. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Erika Keane of Milford and her children Rachel and Ryan, Mark Vanasse of Tucson, Ariz. and his children Elena and Isabel, and Christine Gray and her husband John of Hudson, along with their son Timothy. He also leaves his three sisters, Lillian Wentworth and her husband Phil of York, Maine, Aline Kenney and her husband Terrence of Nashua, N.H., and Elizabeth McDaniel and her husband Kenneth of Nashua, N.H.; and his two brothers, Paul Vanasse and his wife Donna of Bridgewater, N.H. and Daniel Vanasse of Webster, along with many nieces and nephews.

Pierre was a true outdoorsman at heart. He always looked forward to gardening around his home and never turned down a good day of hunting or fishing. He enjoyed snowmobiling and boating, especially following his retirement. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially later with his five grandchildren. He truly looked forward to attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. His unique personality, his warm spirit and the wonderful stories and laughter he shared with all who loved and knew him will be cherished forever.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in I.C. Cemetery of Marlborough. Family and friends may attend calling hours Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central St., Hudson (www.tighehamilton.com).
