Marlborough – Walter E. Connolly, 68, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of Ellen (Woll) Connolly, to whom he was married for 43 years. He lived in Marlborough for the past 41 years.

Mr. Connolly worked for many years as a machinist for the former Digital Corporation and was currently working as a sales associate for Home Depot in Marlborough. He enjoyed fishing , riding motorcycles, doing mechanic work, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, James Halley and his wife Kristin of Westfield, Clifford Connolly and his wife Ashley of Jaffrey, N.H., and Devin Connolly of Marlborough; a daughter, Michelle Wilkinson and her husband Ted of Plymouth; a daughter-in-law, Andrea Connolly of Marlborough; and eight grandchildren, Kaeleigh, Ben, Miranda, Gavin, Jack, Alicia, Danica, and Owen. He was predeceased by a son, Rich Connolly.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.
