Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Leominster – John “Jack” F. Geary, 90, formerly of Hudson, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, surrounded by his family in Leominster.

He was born the son of the late Daniel Geary of Walpole and Mary (Sullivan) Geary of Lawrence.

He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 as an Electricians Mate, 2c on the USS Wake Island and USS Leyte and in the Naval Reserves from 1946 to 1947 aboard the USS PC-780.

He formerly worked at Victory Plastics and New England Tape Co., both in Hudson, until he started working at Raytheon in 1958 until 2011 as a hydraulic supervisor in Wayland and Sudbury. He was a life member of the VFW, Post 1027 and a member of the AmVets, Post 208, both in Hudson.

He enjoyed playing Bocce and bowling on a team with his wife, Shirley.

He leaves his devoted wife of 66 years, Shirley (Phaneuf) Geary of Leominster; his children, Deborah Grant and her husband Wayne Grant of Hudson, Jack Geary Jr. and his wife Ruth of Hudson, Michele Geary of Marlborough, Michael Geary and his wife Jean of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Sandra Geary (deceased), David Geary and his partner Mindy Bowen of Marlborough, Jacqueline Gionet and her husband Gary Gionet of Leominster, and Timothy Geary and his wife Ellen of Marlborough. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; his brother, Daniel Geary of Wilbraham; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Thursday, Nov. 10, at 9 a.m., at St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 3-7 p.m., in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
