Westborough – Friends of the Westborough Public Library (FOWPL), a nonprofit committed to support the public library, has been selected as a beneficiary of the “Hannaford Helps” Reusable Bag Program for the month of November.

The program was developed in order to further support Hannaford’s values by making it easy for customers to contribute to their local community and support the environment. FOWPL will receive $1 every time customers purchase one of the blue Hannaford Helps” reusable bags for $2.50 at Hannaford’s 193 Boston Post Road, Marlborough, location. Each month, a new nonprofit is selected by the store manager to become a beneficiary of the program. The goal of the program is to partner with customers to support local nonprofit groups and to reduce needless paper and plastic bag use.

Funds will support FOWPL’s mission: to stimulate the use of the library and its resources; to sponsor programs designed to add to the cultural life of the community; to provide direct financial assistance by purchasing items which have not been provided for in the budget; and to support and enlarge the library’s scope in the community.

“The organization is honored to be chosen as the November recipient of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag program,” said FOWPL President Judith Wilchynski.
